JBG Gorkha 10K, is an AIMS & World Athletics Certified 10K road race event in the Queen of Hills, Darjeeling. The event will be hosting its 2nd edition on Sunday, 9th April 2023. The event organized by Sportiz, is Title sponsored by Jai Balaji Group, is an opportunity for short to long distance runners coming together- beyond politics, religion, race, colour – inspiring and spreading the message of health and wellness. Furthermore, the event has been a great opportunity for travel with friends and family for participants to experience the beautiful landscape of Eastern Himalayas which offers scope for adventure sports like river rafting, trekking, rock climbing, cycling, para gliding and also a quite peaceful getaways to places like Kalimpong, Rimbik, Sandakphu, Sikkim etc. The event this year has 2 race categories of same distance – ELITE 10K (entries are subject to timing qualifications) and OPEN 10K (open to all).

Age Eligibility - Any individual above the age of 10 years can participate in the event.

Registration Fees includes – Participation in the event, Timing BIB, Dry fit Running Tshirt, Finisher Medal, Refreshments on race day and other goodies from event partners (if any)

CATEGORY 1- ELITE 10K
To qualify and register in the elite category, participants must submit his/ her timing certificate of any running event you may have participated within the last one year. You may submit timing certificate of any distance category.

The following are the cut off timings accepted for registering in the elite category (for both male & female) –

    5 kms – 20 mins
    10 kms – 40 mins
    Half Marathon (21.1 kms) – 1 hr 35 mins
    25 km – 1 hr 50 mins
    Full Marathon (42.195 kms) – 3 hrs 45 mins

Prize money will be awarded to top 5 finishers in Elite 10K race category (separately Male & Female). There are no age categories.

The registration will be cancelled and amount refunded to the participants, if the timing certificate is incorrect /inappropriate / does not qualify the requirements of the category.

CATEGORY 2 - OPEN 10K
This is an amateur category open to all for registrations if you are 10 years old and above.
Prize money will be awarded to top 3 finishers in the below mentioned age categories. The names of the podium winner OPEN 10K race category will be declared and announced on the race website on the next day of the event.

10 yrs to 20 yrs
21 yrs to 30 yrs
31 yrs to 40 yrs
41 yrs to 50 yrs
51 yrs to 60 yrs
61 yrs to 70 yrs
Above 71 yrs
 
PRIZE MONEY- Total prize pool of the race is INR 3 lakh

ELITE 10 K- Top 5 finishers in Male & Female will be awarded cash prize. However podium finishers are only top 3. Prize in Elite 10K category - INR 40,000 (1st) , INR 20,000 (2nd), INR 10,000 (3rd), INR 8000 (4th), INR 5,000 (5th)

OPEN 10K - Top 3 finishers in each age category will be awarded (Male & Female). Prize valuation in OPEN 10K - INR 5000 (1st), INR 3000 (2nd), INR 2000 (3rd)
